Shalom, everyone!
What a beautiful gathering Shoshie hosted in her home, it was meaningful for all, and if anything it showed us how much more there is for us to learn about our "story", and to have it clear enough to pass on to the next generations. It was wonderful to see the young faces, our youngest attendee being little baby Shragi, and we were extra- blessed to have our oldest attendee there, may she live and be well until 120, Ibi Neni- what a treat this was!
Thank you to R' Zelig Horowitz for arranging, MCing, and getting the videographer- on such short notice.
Thank you to each and every attendee, your presence made it more meaningful for all.
A huge thank you to Chava Rivka and her husband and baby- for donating their time 2 days before flying (the first time with a baby!) to join us and share her riveting experience, so openly. We are truly privileged to have them join our ranks!
We wish them a צאתכם לשלום ובואכם לשלום and look forward to seeing you again soon on these shores!
Larry, you were missed and we wish you a refuah shelaimah. We hope to see you at future meetings.
I was wondering if the video that Rabbi Zelig Horowitz arranged of the event, will be posted somewhere for us, please?
As well, I had an idea. Chava Rivka has interviewed so many of the survivors, my grandmother included, Gyongyi Kuttner A'H as well as my great aunt Szori Neni. While I have the video recording on my computer of my grandmother, I have never seen the one with Szori. And, listening yesterday, it occurred to me that it would be wonderful if there were a central location, like an archive, where links could be posted with the names of the survivor interviewed, so that these interviews would be accessible to all of us from the kehillah. We could then see the person telling the story and hear their account first hand.
Of course the obvious problem with this is that the interview took place in Hungarian.
I wonder if anyone had translated their ancestor's video into Hebrew or English? I have asked my mother Mrs. Agi Zwick, to try and begin the task of listening and translating as she writes down my grandmother's account. She is the only Hungarian speaker in our family who is still here she should be well till 120, to do the job.
But yes it takes time, but the value is great- the next generation will understand their roots.
Another idea that occurred to me, but I know much less about this, would be to explore the options available through AI, to somehow upload the recordings and then get a translation. The results would in any case require editing by a Hungarian speaker, as we know AI falls very short of human intellect and is wrought with errors, etc.
Still, it would be an option to explore.
If anyone has further ideas to explore or implement the above, please step up to the plate,
Wishing everyone much brocha v'hatzlochoh,
Elana

Subject: Azkara - Bunyad
To All Descendants of the Kehila Kedosha of Bonyhad
After much thought and discussion, we've decided to hold the annual Azcara a few days early, so that Chava Rivka (Eva) could attend. She agreed to join us a day before returning home. She knows a lot about Bonyhad and has a lot of interesting and important information to share. This will enhance the memorial of all the deceased ז""ל and ה' יקום דמם.
Date: Sunday 9th, Tamuz 6/7/2025
Time: 4:30
Place: Shoshi Horowitz's home : Givat Shaul
Children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren are all welcome.
There's a large yard which can accommodate younger children.
We are happy to receive feedback.
Apologies for the short notice
Looking forward to seeing you
