All:
Hope all is well.
I'm speaking to my Father he should be well. This is what he told me.
Rabbi Just was the Melamid for the 6 year olds to 9 year olds. My father was in his class for those years. From 8:00 AM to 12:00PM everyday. He remembers him as a Gingy(red head) and a nice long beard. There was davining and then learning. The next year we starting Chumish. After that year was Gemara.
Rabbi Just lived in the complex where the schools were. There was a girls division as well and the were in the same class but different sides of the room. The classes were in Yiddish.

In fact the Kraus family is our family too. My Father's Mother is from family Marcus. They had 14 girls and 2 boys. One of these girls Sara (Sura) married Kraus Lezers father Yitzchok Moshe Kraus. If you are in Israel you are more than welcome to meet my Father and Mother. He has everything on his finger tips B"H.
Happy to be able to help.
Regards to all.

Hi All,

I think Reuven having put Samuel Kraus in touch with Leo Brown in Israel was a good idea.

I am including Moishe Brown, Leslie Feldman and Robert Marcus in this inquiry, all 2nd generation Bonyhad descendants
living in the USA. Their extensive knowledge of Bonyhad history may include information about a Rabbi Usher Just that could be of help to Samuel Kraus.
They will also be glad to learn of this new development, the contact that has been made with another descendant of Bonyhad and, through him,
to his Great grandfather, Rabbi Usher Just and his writings, in case that information has been, previously, unknown to them.

Samuel, we try to assemble information for our Bonyhad archive. When you have some time for it, we would greatly appreciate if you could please fill out the attached questionnaire.
A few minutes ago, I spoke to Moshe Brown about your inquiry. He knows your Great grandfather's name from his own father, Pinchas Brown z"l, and can share (with us all) what he
has learned about him.

I hope everyone is handling this difficult period well.

Best regards,

Leslie Barany

I didn't write the book, it was my father's great-uncle who wrote it. I simply helped edit the Hebrew translation. I don't know anything off-hand about Rabbi Just/Juszt but there are a lot of Krausses and Juszts listed on the Bonyhad martyr list. I'm forwarding your email to others, maybe they have more info. Do you know anything else about your great-grandfather? Did he write any sefarim? What was his official position?
